Grand Master Ip Ching discuses the Ving Tsun History.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF WING CHUN
Fighting arts have been independently developed all over the world, but mention of Martial Arts automatically Brings to mind the Chinese styles of Kung Fu.
Although the Martial Arts in China have been recorded for thousands of years, the traditional beginnings of Kung Fu started with the Shaolin Temple; founded around the period 500 AD by a monk called Bodhidharma who introduced Zen Buddhism to China from India.
It was at this time the Martial Arts became more of a secret knowledge, taught only to family or a very few select disciples, so preserving the arts through the generations.
Sifu Adie Gray is taught directly by Ip Man’s Son, Grandmaster Ip Ching in Hong Kong.
THE MYTHS AND TRUTHS
Myths and Truths of the Chinese fighting arts styles of Kung Fu.
Over the years a great deal of self proclaimed Grandmasters have exploited the art and people by offering the secrets to Ip Mans Ving Tsun ( that there arent any ) and always for a hefty price tag.
Unfortunately we have all been subject to someone offering the secrets to being a better martial artist. But the myths must be addressed.
A fighting art is just that – what would work on the street in a high pressured situation. It’s not about dancing on a matt for a plastic trophy or one of many titles. Now listen before you scream blue murder if that is your goal good luck to you. However too many people get a false sense of security and a false sense of confidence.
If you are a fighter training in a fighting art will improve your ability fact. If you arent a fighter then training should give you a better idea of yourself your surroundings including situation and self awareness. It WILL NOT make you a good fighter on the street.
All arts are great and bring something to the table there (in my humble professional opinion) are no single unbeatable art.
So to sum it up easily Know yourself be honest with yourself and if it sounds too good to be true IT ALWAYS is.
From Ip Man to Sifu Adie Gray
Ip Man (1 October 1893 – 1 December 1972), also known as Yip Man, and also Yip Kai-man, was a Chinese martial artist. He had several students who later became martial arts masters in their own right, including Bruce Lee ( Lei Siu Lung ).
Ip Ching will always remain within the hearts if the AGIVTA and be a true beacon of light showing all his lineage the pure art of Ving Tsun
